Metabolism Reset-Adrenal Fatigue Questions - Mia74 - 05-06-2013 09:24 AM

Hello All,

After much insistence from a friend, I finally conceded that I need to eat more. I've been doing heavy powerlifting for about a year and the year before that I did intense roller derby practices. Overall, I would say I was either eating WAY too much when not tracking, or only about 1500 when I was tracking. Given I've not had any change in 2 years I'm ready to eat more and see where it leads.

Here's my question, I think after years of not eating I have a low level of adrenal fatigue. I really don't want to lift for a while and I'm thinking about just doing yoga for two months during my reset. I'll also keep doing walks with the dog and some bike riding with my kids, just nothing too intense.

I guess the question is, will this be okay if I keep it low key and start the weight lifting after my reset? I just feel like I need to chill and after two days of eating more I do feel like the energy is coming back.

Hi there,

Are you taking supplements to help you with your adrenal fatigue. There are a few supplements that can really help you such as B6, B12, Pantothenic acid, and Vitamin C. As you know lots of sleep is key. Take naps when you can. Try to do so between 3-5pm if possible.

Secondly, you sound as though you need a good break. I personally wouldn't lay off lifting for 2 months because you will lose a lot of strength and possibly some muscle as well.

Why don't you consider taking a two week break and then see how you feel? Muscle is key and lifting is the way to preserve and add it.

Thanks for the reply. I just added in my B6 and B12 today and also a multivitamin. I've not lifted for about two weeks but I might give it a solid week of eating before I resume. I love lifting so it's hard to stay away!

Don't forget about the C...recommendation is 3k-5k daily.

I can recommend a fabulous book about adrenal fatigue and how hormones effect us. Accidentally overweight by Dr Libby Weaver. I have learnt so much that has helped. I gave up coffee cold turkey and have felt 1000% times better and now don't fall asleep during the day.

The book is a total life changer in my opinion.
