How many Steps do YOU log with your fitbit? - Morgandobes - 07-15-2012 08:23 PM

I thought I was doing really good with 6,000 steps, but apparently I am just above sedentary Sad

Found the article below for those interested -

Classification of pedometer-determined physical activity in healthy adults:
1) Under 5000 steps/day may be used as a "sedentary lifestyle index"
2) 5,000-7,499 steps/day is typical of daily activity excluding sports/exercise and might be considered "low active."
3) 7,500-9,999 likely includes some exercise or walking (and/or a job that requires more walking) and might be considered "somewhat active."
4) 10,000 steps/day indicates the point that should be used to classify individuals as "active".
5) Individuals who take more than 12,500 steps/day are likely to be classified as "highly active".

I am setting a goal for myself to hit 10,000 a day.

Any other takers?
Lisa

I don't have a fitbit, but my husbands new job is shipping him one for an employee challenge they are doing (team with the most steps wins). I totally plan on stealing it when he is done with the challenge.

Ugh...I am not very active either. I just looked at a few days and was at 5866, 7113, and 6401. Guess I need to get moving!

Well, yesterday I was less than 5000 steps, but I did do 22 flights of stairs.
I am going to assess after a week, but I am thinking that I need to lower my cals/activity level. :/

How on earth did you do 22 flights of stairs and only 5,000 steps?
Ouch!

I am a homemaker who lives in a two story home with a finished basement. It was laundry day so I took extra trips on purpose to put things away. happy

How are you doing with your steps? I did make it over 7000 yesterday.

Well a few weeks ago I was between 10,000 & 15,000 per day. THEN..... I herniated a disc in my back so have been very restricted about what I can do. Swimming is approved & now small walks but on inclines so I have been lucky to break 5,000 since.

I did walk close to a mile this morning. Hoping to be back over 10K in the next 3 to 4 weeks (pending Dr approval)

Herniated disc! Youch! Take it easy or it will take longer. Hope you feel better soon.
