Sheila,

Even 5 lbs up or down, you should recalculate your TDEE. Normally your weight will not come down to 145 at TDEE on its own. Could it happen, yes, but it's not the norm.

On the workouts, the EM2WL are excellent! We still don't have an specific band workout yet, but they are worth checking out! There are a few free ones as well: I have Cathe's travel workout and it is killer! I used it in my last stay in the Middle East along with the personalized EM2WL Kiki out together for me. http://shop.cathe.com/Travel-Fit-Workout...-p/751.htm
She does have other workouts and rotations, you can purchase the DVD, download or stream.

There's a book called the Big Book of Exercise for Women that has great exercise ideas, including body weight with substitutions https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Health-Big...27s+health

Thanks, Teresa!

Where in the ME? I studied in Egypt, worked in Tunisia & Kuwait, traveled in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Algeria. Before all the nonsense.

Jordan. Dh's parents lived there, so we used to go almost every year. Now that both passed, it doesn't feel the same way. Jordan still feels like a pretty safe place, I like being there in the summer, but it became over crowded since some many folks from the nearby countries moved there. I've been in Egypt and loved the people there. I sin all the nonsense would go away. Those countries are such great places to visit.

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Aaack - I had a post written and lost it. A hint from the Universe to whittle it down? Perhaps.

Anyway, the shorter version....I've just taken a longer view of my record here, and I now realize that I've been eating 2000-2100 consistently since Dec. 19 - 8 weeks (my average for that period is 1999.9, even with one panic week @ 1800 factored in, and one week when I went up to ~2150, so those weeks balance out. I did recalculate TDEE because my exercise decreased due to weather and other things and, of course, my weight went up. My weight increase (which scared me to death at first) is actually only 4.4 lb since Dec 19, 6 lb total since I started in Nov, and it's holding steady ~149-150 for a month.

Should I push up to 2050 or 2100? Or should I stay at 2000 for a while longer?

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Turns out I lied yesterday. Not intentionally. I've been aiming for 2000 calories, but I've actually averaged 2164 the past 3 days. I dunno, I guess I was hungry. :-) And that's a plus, since a few short weeks ago I was complaining about feeling stuffed. My exercise level is erratic, and although I reset to Moderate, I'm not really comfortable that that's high enough. I think I'm between moderate & strenuous, which puts estimated TDEE at 2163. (And as the weather improves I'll no doubt be out for longer walks - plus I'm doing some weight training now.)

Anyway, I have accidentally begun testing 2163 the past 3 days. I'm up a pound this morning, but I had pizza yesterday (yum!) so I'm sure some of it is water. I'm thinking I should stay close to 2163 for a while to see what happens. Thoughts?

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Looking at your past numbers, there is a gradual trend upwards in weight for the previous 2 weeks at 2000. But it's very slight! So does it mean anything, or not, regarding your TDEE? That is the question.

Maybe you could try for 2050 or 2100 and see what happens. It seems to me that increasing cals by 160 in a week is a lot, especially being close to your TDEE.

Or, you could stay at 2000 for a couple more weeks for more data.

But, this is just my opinion and I could be wrong!

Whatever you do, yay for you in keeping up the calories and staying with the process!

How exciting that you and Tereza have done so much travel abroad! I bet it was very interesting!

RE: Eat, Play, Write
I agree with Maggie, kudos for staying the course! Nothing wrong sticking to 2000 for longer. What did you decide towards st?

Maggie, traveling is definitely fun and puts things in perspective for sure.

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Frosty, I agree - I would not have intentionally added 160 calories all at once. Of course, on each of my "up" days I knew I had gone over my goal, but didn't realize until yesterday that I'd done so for 3 days in a row. So I thought, what the heck, I may as well test the waters since I'm here! I did eat 2139 yesterday and am up .2 lb., but that's insignificant. I think I will stick it out at this level for a little longer. since it's been 4 days now and I've come to terms with gaining a little. I did go up to 150.4 @ 2000/day, so I'm only .8 lb higher than I went at 2000, at least for now. What's the worst that can happen? If my weight doesn't level out, then I'll back off by 50 calories and see. This really should be pretty close to TDEE, I think, unless I'm burning more than I think I am. I don't think there's a right or wrong, but it seems silly to me to back off at this point. I'll see what happens!

I would like to hear from one of the experts, though, if someone sees this.

And yes, I love traveling, seeing new places, meeting people of all kinds. Not to mention the FOOD! :-)

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Update...I'm 5 days in at eating at my estimated TDEE of 2163 (I've averaged 2157). As you can see, my weight went up on days 2, 3, & 4, but it's down a bit this morning. I'm glad I stuck it out once I realized my "mistake" of eating more than planned on the weekend. I'm not sure what caused my mental shift - probably all the feedback & encouragement from all of you! - but I'm fine with my weight, and I feel great. So thanks again

Sheila, I am so happy to see that there's a mental shift going on here! That is huge and that is what is going to help you move forward. Make sure not to look back wink

You are doing great, and aside from the number, honestly, 149, 150 or 151 it's all the same when it comes to a healthy strong body. its all fluctuation that makes no difference in the big scheme of life.
