Yep, for pants they absolutely do fit differently now. Jeans are the hardest (for me) and those brands with a little stretch added are your friends.

RE: Zingdak's Journal
Clearly I am getting strong because I wasn't sore today so I repeated workout A since I only did a half workout A on Sunday. And just in a few days my pushups even have gotten better. It's not a full pushup, but it is a huge improvement!

The jackknife may be my favorite part of the workout by the way. I can see how it builds upper body strength. I will try to do measurements tomorrow as I forgot to do so this morning. It is has now been an entire month of EM2WL.

Now off to check up on everyone else's journals!

Nice! Both on your workouts and progress. I hear you on the pushups. Like pullups (which I can't even do 1 yet) pushups seem to be my nemesis....

RE: Zingdak's Journal
Thank you SarahWeb, although I confess I am totally not sold on this program as I am still obsessed with the scale and am despairing a bit at being at my highest weight ever.

Emma: I tried a test push up yesterday and I think I am slowly getting the swing of the actual body motion - as it is very hard to hold my body rigid. If I can perfect my form for a pushup as a result of EM2WL, I will consider this an incredible success.

Some more data. Today I weighed 170.6 on the scale. At the start of this effort I weighed 167.6, a little over a month ago. Since I began EM2WL, I've eaten an average of 2,236 calories per day, completely stopped running (although I ride my bicycle a few times a week - mainly for convenience, not for exercise), and am slowly increasing the strength building portion of the program.

My jeans and slacks at the hips are a bit snug, but a bit lose around the thighs. My gut seems a bit tight, and that is where I have lost the most inches: 4 inches lost at last measure (above).

I'm going to have to get more weights soon.

RE: Zingdak's Journal
Wow! Those are some pretty dramatic measurement changes for one month!! To be able to drop 2 inches on your waist and 4 inches on your abdomen while eating 2,236 calories a day is fantastic!! Why does it even matter what that number on the scale is?

Remember, you are working hard to gain HEAVY muscle. Muscle, by nature, is heavier (volume wise) than fat. Wouldn't you rather have a tight (albeit maybe heavier) body, or a fluffy (but lighter) one? Ignore the number on the scale girl - your body is making some amazing changes and you are doing perfectly!

With the strength training, you may find that clothes simply fit "differently". Some jeans I could fit into before don't fit any more. They simply no longer fit the shape of my body. This would be the time to go out and try on different styles of jeans and find ones that fit and flatter your new shape.

Keep up the awesome work!

Thank you AnitraSoto! The mental part is the worst. Silently fuming at unflattering photos on social media is also pretty awful. I need to trust the process and reading success stories is very inspiring but the desire to want quick results is what is causing so much grief! I'm just so used to seeing the scale weight change that despite all my mental pep talks, I get a bit grouchy.

Thank you so much though for the kind words. I shall strive to be a little less on the grumpster side.

RE: Zingdak's Journal
Read what you just said: "the desire to want quick results is what is causing so much grief!",

then go back and look at your results over the past month:

6/15/14 (starting), 7/17/14 (current)
Wrist: 6, 6 (no change)
Forearm: 10.9, 10.9 (no change)
Neck: 13.5, 13 (half inch loss!)
Waist: 31.5, 29.5 (2 inch loss!)
Abdomen: 38.5, 34.5 (4 inch loss!)
Hips: 44.5, 44.1 (0.4 inch loss!)
Thigh: 26.5, 27.2 (0.7 inch GAIN)
Calf: 15.8, 14.8 (1 inch loss!)

That is crazy how successful you have been and over a really short period of time! If those aren't fast results, I don't know what are. Cut yourself some slack and look back at how far you have come - you are doing awesome!

If you focus on that number on the scale, you will drive yourself nuts. There are SO many more things that go into scale weight other than fat ... just because the scale goes down one pound does not mean that you have lost a pound of fat. Chances are it was water, maybe some fat if you are lucky, and if you are under eating, it may have been muscle too. By the same token, just because the number on the scale is not going down, does not mean you are not losing fat.

This is the time to focus on feeling strong, noticing new muscles as they develop, and enjoying fueling your body properly - ditch that scale girl! thumbs up
