I hope everything is going well and you had a great Christmas!

Hi Kati!
Hope your holiday is a blast and you are enjoying yourself!!!

Christmas Eve I accepted a job offer!!!! I am so super excited! Tomorrow marks my moms last day of treatment for her spine infection so things are starting to look up!!

Over the holidays I met with a trainer/ coach friend of mine, paid a small fee toher to have her figure out my macros/ calories too...being I work out from home we looked up some weight lifting programs. I did the EM2WL one, now I will be doing Jamie Easons Live Fit. Did my chest and triceps today and boy are they shaking!!!! After this I might try Cathe Fr..... Ugh can't remember her last name, anyhow, I am excited to have a bit more of direction vs just pulling random numbers! She said she would consult with me in three weeks to see how I am doing!

I didn't track xmas day or xmas eve! Ugh I felt like I gained 20lbs. Scale said 4! But I just put it away and said " see ya next week scale!"

Congratulations on the job, that's fantastic! I'm glad your mom is doing better too. When do you start the new job?

Have you gotten back to the workouts or are you still in holiday mode? I did a little work on a flex band yesterday that my dad gave to me. It's been pouring rain so no walking, and still lots of eating! I'm still in Pennsylvania until Friday with a social event every night. My Fitbit report showed me over 2100 calories last week but I don't think that I adjusted it to my maintenance number so I think I'm doing okay.

Hi Kati!
Good for you on getting the flex band work out in-that's great! Sux that its raining tho. How fun to have all those holiday parties this week. I'm jealous!!

The day after Christmas I started watching my macro's and started doing Jamie Eason's Live Fit program. This week was 4 days of lifting. I did sneak one day of T25 in between..but I have been SORE all week! Ugh! Last night I took the pup for a walk - big heavy boots on and walking in snow after leg day = not a good idea! I was so tired I couldn't even get my 10K steps in (which is what I'm trying to do again!). The scale is still hidden-haven't peaked since the day after Xmas when my weight flung up four pounds (hope its still water weight). We will see on Saturday when I weigh in. Nervous about New Years-getting together with friends....its snack and drink night. I'm hoping to stay on plan but praying I don't fall too far off. I had a bit of a slip up yesterday but still sticking to it. Determined - to not be a 'its the first of the year, new years resolution, only stick to it for 3 days and give up again' like I've done the last three years. SO I started before the new years. We'll see how that pans out! :-)

Since doing the 10K steps a day, weight lifting, and such, My FITIBT report said I was close to 2400 TDEE a day...not sure how accurate that is but I'll take it. My in take has been around 1900-2100, but I'll be I am holding on to water weight with being sore and all! Don't know for sure as I haven't stepped on the scale! ha!! :-)

I hope you have a wonderful time with your family!!!

Stay off that scale! You're doing great! Just keep lifting and moving. That's really great that you have started working out again BEFORE January 1st. I don't think you'll have any trouble in January 5th. This is a totally new outlook. Just keep on going!

Is there any way you can send me a link of the 2016 Wellness Challenge group on MFP? I can't click on the links in the newsfeed. Don't know why.

HI Kati

Well, Yesterday was a rough unplanned day. I stayed under calories but ended up with 19G of protein and 27G of carbs LEFT--went WAY over on my fats-but found I was so full. I couldn't even get the rest of my calories in!!

I always lose weight in my face first--love gravity! :-) ha ha! So this morning when I got up, I *felt* like something was happening. So I peeked...one day shy of being a week...I peeked and stepped on the scale. To my surprise. I'm down .6lbs...1/2 lb, since I started the day after Christmas (and I'm not counting the four pound fling up from Xmas! ha ha).

So I'm excited, but now nervous for this evening. We are getting together with some of our old neighbors for New Years, drinks and snacks...so nervous. Praying I can control myself. Planning to drink lots of water and snack on the veggies.

Kati-I will try to see if I can get you invited to that challenge. I'll let you know.

Happy New Years Eve everyone!!

RE: Time to Eat! Today is my day!
Happy New year my beautiful friends!!!!

This past week has been very educational for me. While doing EM2WL, I've begun watching my specific macro's. Something I only halfheartedly did before. This week, I learned that when i go over on my fats, I must compensate my carbs but still get my protein in....never did that before either, I just ate, until I hit my calorie goal. So last week I vowed to watch that more, and I did. I almost felt a bit obsessive over it, but the more I did watch my macro's, and ate accordingly, the more full I felt. I tried to plan my meals, and we had two impromptu dinners plus New years eve. I made it a point to work everything into my plan. Each time we had the impromptu dinners, I was over on my fats, so it was interesting to learn how to adjust my carbs so that I could get the rest of my protein in. And shockinly, it worked! I enjoyed New Years, but I planned for it throughout the day. I went over in my calories still by 500, but I kinda had a feeling I knew I would go over a bit. I weight lifted 4x this week, did one Cardio video (t25), and 4 out of the 7 days got my 10K steps in. It paid off....down .8lbs!! I know its not a lot but it is a start!! Just wish I would have figured out all this protein stuff sooner. I know everyone talks about getting all your protein in but I never knew how much a gal as big as me should have or how many carbs so my consult was worth it! Well at least this week it was.....lets hope it continues. :-)

So here is to 2016!! You have a clean slate you can make it whatever you want! Enjoy!

RE: Time to Eat! Today is my day!
Nice job! I think once you get into the "feel" of your macros, it won't feel so obsessive - it'll become more intuitive. TBH, I only tracked macros hardcore for a short time, awhile back, and it was too much of a pain for even me (haha). If it matters, I found that as long as I was hitting my protein, the carbs and fats fell into place more or less, and I also realized that I didn't care if I was over in fats vs carbs. Its not detrimental to anything assuming your fats are the good ones and you have enough carbs in you for energy.

Awesome job figuring out the protein stuff. That's why we continually say "track your protein, and the other two will just naturally sort of fall into place" It really is true. You don't need to stress about the carbs or fats too much. If you are nailing the protein the other two just sort of naturally come out where they should. Makes the whole tracking macros thing so much easier!

Sounds like an awesome wrap-up to 2015 ... can't wait to see what 2016 holds for you!

You're really rocking it! I'm so glad that you're seeing progress. I'm having trouble getting back into the swing of things so I'm doing it gradually.

I want to thank you for your support over the past months. I've really appreciated having you here to talk to and share ideas with. Here's to a fantastic 2016!!!

RE: Time to Eat! Today is my day!
Hi! I want to echo the other folks by saying that tracking macros really is helpful. I LOVE tracking them! For me, tracking seems to make everything so much easier and takes the stress out of eating. I love carbs and would certainly eat most of my calories in them if I could. But forcing myself to hit that 30% (I usually try for more) of protein each day gives me a goal that keeps me full, holds the carbs at bay, and makes all food possible....as long as it fits my macros. I even use it as a planning tool. If I know I'm going to eat out or want something a bit off my normal meal plan (Chinese takeout) I'll use MFP to plan out the whole day's worth of meals (logging everything in the morning) around the "special" meal I want. That way I get the fun stuff, but never without a plan that lets me meet my macro and calorie goals.

Oh, and sure, some days my macros are off, but I try not to let it be without thought. And I LOVE that MFP function that lets you see your macro ratios over the course of a week. It helps me realize that one day of "off macros" doesn't really hurt the weekly ratios.

Good luck with tracking! I hope you find it as helpful as I do.

I often do that prelogging approach too. I'm horrible about meeting macros. No, that's not right. I'm okay when I'm in a routine and not holiday crazed. Not great, just ok. Usually around 23-25%. I'm not a huge protein fan. Have to find some new options to get me excited about meat!

I have to agree with the consensus here. The few times I really focused on getting that protein up, everything else fell into place easily.
