New and not sure about activity level
Hi there - I've been following you guys on FB for a while but am brand new around here.

I'm not really coming from an underfed background - well not much - as I've been increasing cals gradually over a number of months after coming to a standstill in terms of fatloss.

Anyway I'm fine with the TDEE calculator - except I'm not sure about my activity level.

I have a fairly sedentary desk job, but I'm pretty active outside of work - I lift heavy four times a week. Most of my heavy lifting sessions are around 60-75 minutes but they are pretty intense. So I'd say I probably train 4-5 hours a week, but it's definitely not at a moderate level!

RE: New and not sure about activity level
I would say use the 3-5 hour range as a starting point. But we tell those that feel that they are possibly between two "levels" (that don't have a BMF or FitBit) to feel free to take an average between that and the next level. Especially if you feel you are still just crazy starving.

That may be the best way to go for you, if you feel like you need more than the 3-5 hour moderate, but not quite a full 5-7 (or whatever) hour "strenuous" amount.

I usually only lift about 3 days/wk, so I stay around the 3-5 hour cal range. But if I were to add a 4th lift session. I have no prob eating more to fuel my workouts properly. Even if i just decide to take a high day on the extra workout day. This journey is all about allowing your body to guide you. So be sure to listen to it. If you are ravaged with hunger...eat wink

RE: New and not sure about activity level
Thanks for the reply. I have a couple of bouncy dogs so walk at least an hour every day and I'm not much of one for sitting around so am pretty much constantly on the go when I'm not chained to my desk. So 3-5 hours of moderate exercise doesn't really sound like it's enough - but I'll certainly use that as a starting point. Pretty strange that there's nothing between 3-5 moderate and 5-7 strenuous though!

Trust... You are the 5-7...with your heavy lifts plus daily walks with not sitting still...yeah 5-7 is you.
