Lindsey's Journal - Ready to See Change
Day 1 - August 11th 2014

-Started to count the actual calories I consumed in a day (didn't restrict myself either...all snacking included)
-Ended up with 1925 total for the day. I also did a 5 mile circuit run along with an ab and chest/shoulder/tri workout. Probably burned close to 600 calories there.
-I was surprised how close I was to my TDEE (I'm only like 200 calories off). But I know where I need to make my change is in the workout department. I normally did 2 cardios per day. I just did the run...I didn't do the 40 min walk after - which was weird for me.

My info:
My BMR: 1414
TDEE (taking it to 3-4 days of cardio) is 2192

My weight today was a bit high - but I was a bit bloated going in.- 136

I haven't gotten a tape measure yet, but I plan on taking some measurement to track progress. Still trying to wrap my head around that doing less cardio will give me more definition and help me lose the extra fat. Ugh....

I'll be checking in weekly. Still trying to figure out a good weight lifting routine that will give me results. If you have something that works, please, let me know happy

Lindsey

RE: Lindsey's Journal - Ready to See Change
Just some updated pics when I'm not super bloated. Oddly the scale was smaller yesterday. Ugh. Makes no sense.

Oh well.

Here's to the Journey.

Wow, You are looking good!! Yes, We all have those bloated days, no worries. The number on the scale will varies from day to day( hour to hour ) sometimes, or most times with no rhyme or reason. Its best not to weigh everyday. Maybe try once a week or every two weeks. It has made me crazy in years past!! drooling But the Pictures tell it all!! Thanks for sharing these. I look forward to following your journey!!

RE: Lindsey's Journal - Ready to See Change
Regardless of replies, I find it very therapeutic to write all this down.

I have now been doing my TDEE or close to it by dropping my cardio for a whole week! You don't understand how BIG that is for me!! I have been doing 7 days of cardio for the past 5-6 years. I was super scared of the scale all week, but I forced myself to not go on it..only on Saturdays as I fluctuate a lot during the week.

I've been doing the p90x routine, and only 4 days of cardio (and some are just little 15 minutes sessions...not that hour long running I was used to doing). I took all my measurements that was recommended by most people on the forums. The only changes were my biceps and leg muscles have increased 1/2" and everything else was the same.

Surprisingly...I was expecting my weight to be all colors of ridiculous...and I actually LOST a half pound. Imagine that. With hardly any of the crazy cardio I was doing. I was so happy - it was just a wonderful feeling. I celebrated with some ice cream today...ha! Haven't done that in years!

Here's to continuing to week 3.

Updated pics attached.

RE: Lindsey's Journal - Ready to See Change
So happy for you! What a major accomplishment cutting back on all that cardio you had become so accustomed to! What a big step (and a very hard one) to take!

Your body sees all those hours of cardio as stress, and will definitely appreciate the decreased levels. Great job, and great progress!

Oh, I think I know how tough it was for you to cut back that cardio happy (Been there. Still struggle with it myself at times.) Great job! If I may comment on your pics, it actually looks like your midsection is a little tighter in the last set. I'm wondering if your body was pumping out cortisol with all the stress from the cardio and causing you to retain water around the abdominal area. Regardless, well done hitting your new workout goals.

RE: Lindsey's Journal - Ready to See Change
Oddly, it's getting easier to cut back on cardio. Wow, I can't believe I did what I did soooo long. Blows my mind. But, when I do do cardio, I put in all effort. I feel myself working harder.

I have noticed an increase in my happy moods lately. Not sure if that's a cardio dropping thing or what, but nonetheless - I'll take that side effect.

These are my week 3 pictures. My measurements and weight were about the same if not a bit up. My body probably still needs to figure out what I'm doing. Ha.

I am reading this interesting book right now called The ME Diet. It's not a diet persay, but it going into what your body is doing to itself when you eat certain foods and when you workout a certain way. It's a good read if you, like me, want to understand what's going on inside of you. It goes with the EM2WL philosophy!

Until next time. happy

RE: Lindsey's Journal - Ready to See Change
Now on week 5 (I'll have pictures by Sunday), and I'm getting a bit frustrated. I'm sure a lot of you do get this way at this point. While the scale hasn't jumped horrendously, I sometimes find myself craving that cardio I did. I feel like I'm making a huge mistake and my body just doesn't want to change. I know you need to let your body adjust for an 8-12 week span, and I do fully intend on doing EM2WL through it's entirety. I've been - well rather puffy this week, specifically around my middle. It's that stubborn belly fat that I want to melt off. Ugh.

Had to get that out.
Ha!

I've been doing p90x and less cardio now. Was thinking of Les Mills Bodypump after it's done. I really love Bodypump and I think my muscles respond to muscle endurance vs heavy weights.

Thoughts?
