Brick My fitness journal - Nadoriel
Hey everyone happy

I know I said I was going to start this journal next week but I thought it was probably a good idea to update my current stats.

A little bit of my story... I'm a portuguese girl, overweight since a little baby. Bullied by my colleagues at school. I've tried several fad diets, no diets, not caring, caring, crying, wishful thinking and plain denial. I was around 64kg before university. Gained 10kg before finding I had hypothiroidism. Then lost some, but never all. Came to UK to work as a nurse and in just 3 months managed to get 10kg more (even while exercising). I was devastated. I thought the problem was my hashimotos. Til I found out MFP and EM2WL. I just didn't realize how much I really ate and how little I really exercised.

Straight into cut I lost those 10kg and a bit more in around 8-9 months with ups and downs. I've been at a plateau for a while and now I want to get more fit and get my body fat lower. I want to be a new me I never was and finally be able to enjoy life as I always wanted to be in my dreams.

Body fat:
12/09/2014 - 24.7% according to Boots scale, but I think it's probably more than that (need to buy calipers but only next month...)

Measurements:
29/09/2014:
Waist - 73cm
Abdomen - 80cm
Hips - 91cm
Thigh - 60cm
Calf - 37cm
Upper arm - 27.5cm

Weight:
29/09/2014 - 67kg

Photos:
How do you advise to take them? While making "muscle" or "au naturale"? raised eyebrows I think I should take some.

Calories:
Fitbit connected to MFP, I will use that daily value as my life style changes quite a lot daily. Still, average TDEE of 2600 cals. And still if I didn't measure I would just go over it. I wonder if I'll ever be able to eat "normally" with no measuring, no OCDing, no overeating and just... maintain.

Plan - week 1:
- No stronglifts for 2 weeks (not enough time anyway - I've been doing more than enough lifting while moving home, carrying my stuff around);
- Start eating up to TDEE slowly and steady (right now around 2400-2500);
- Have fun while in Portugal, try to be mindful of what eating, but eating what I like and lots of meat. Unfortunately I won't be able to log food;
- Walk, walk, walk. Maybe some light jogging if the weather allows it.

RE: My fitness journal - Nadoriel
Yay for starting a journal!

Photos are the best way to judge progress. Sometimes when the scale won't budge, and your clothes just seem tight and don't fit like they used to, photos will tell the true story -- they are irreplaceable. As far as your photos, however you decide to do them, just make sure you can duplicate it next time. If you are flexing this time, flex the next... etc. Make sure to wear the same clothes, repeat the same poses and ensure that lighting is the same. You want to be able to compare apples with apples.. I would definitely recommend doing front, back, both sides (and even a face shot).

Have fun in Portugal!!

RE: My fitness journal - Nadoriel
I took both flex photos and non-flex photos and find all of them valuable. Best of luck!

RE: My fitness journal - Nadoriel
Hey all!

All right, I took some photos of the beginning of this process so it doesn't happen like last time.. I was so ashamed, every time I took photos I would delete the ones that showed more than my face lol.

I managed to walk more than I thought today, even though most of the trip was made by train/bus/airplane/coach. And my protein levels seem awesome 'cause I ate so much chicken xD

Here are the pictures:

As you can see I need a lot of toning pretty much everywhere. My tummy is still huge. My face and neck have lost so much though. Couldn't take of my lower legs as unfortunately the room is still not big enough for me to stand in front of the mirror happy still, I'm happy I have a big mirror now!

RE: My fitness journal - Nadoriel
I love having photos to judge progress! It's such a concrete way for me to see that yes, something is happening even when I feel like nothing is!

I also have hypothyroidism. It can be a real pain in the butt at times! Have you found your proper medication levels and such? I've found that is one thing that has a huge impact on my health journey!

Your pictures look great by the way. Lifting and fueling properly will really help you to get the changes you're looking for!

Crystal

Hi there thanks for deciding to start a journal and sharing your journey!
You will one day be able to eat normally and not have log and track calories. Every once in awhile take a day or 2 off from logging. Practice makes perfect.
You look great! Keep up the awesome work!

RE: My fitness journal - Nadoriel
I should have done the photos from the beginning but like I said.. too embarrassed! But now is the time xD there is still a lot to do happy

CrystalFueled, I dunno how it works in there but my GP in Portugal put me on 50mcg levothyroxine and that's it. Even in UK they didn't mess up with that.

To be honest I feel much better than before but I'm still perfectly able to sleep more than 12h a day, actually if I'm tired I'll just fall asleep wherever I am as long as I'm sitting (breakfast and lunch breaks at work angel). And although it's really hard to tire me with physical effort, I feel I get tired psychologically still pretty easily compared to other people. But you know, doctors say it's stress related and nursing shifts... and they might be right ^^'

Thank you so much for your posts. Jaeone I might be able to do that later on, but I still feel pretty lost if I do not log for now. And I have a tendency to increase my intake a lot if I don't do it xD (buffets are eviillll!)

I think you look good - we're all too mean to ourselves about our looks.

Good luck with your process.
