Newbie. Be gentle with me
Hi folks,

Well, here I am. I have a friend who has been following a similar plan to this for a while now, and I'm ready to give it a go. I'll be honest, I'm finding the prospect a little scary. I'm planning a whole metabolic reset. Yikes. Now, obviously, as a natural grubber, the prospect of actually eating more than 2000 cals is actually quite good. But I'm also aware that I will most likely gain weight. But I need to get a grip of myself. I'm nearly 40, and been struggling with weight gain for a good year now. And cutting cals is no longer working. What kill say however is that I am ever so slightly concerned that my food bill is going to increase to accommodate an increase in protein. I cook with lots of pulses atm. I will need to research all the ins and outs properly.

Sorry for rambling. rambling

RE: Newbie. Be gentle with me
Welcome!! So glad you have decided to "take the plunge"! It is scary at first, but if you go into it knowing what to expect throughout the process, you should do just fine!

In terms of that initial weight gain, I would definitely recommend upping your calories gradually. By adding 100 calories to each day and maintaining at that level for a week or so before pushing upwards by another 100 calories, you may be able to avoid that initial jump on the scale that so many see. By taking it slowly, you give your body time to adapt and adjust to the increased intake along the way...

As far as the protein... Are you on Pinterest? We have a great board over there specifically dedicated to High Protein recipe ideas. Protein comes in a lot of sources that are not necessarily meats (or expensive...) Take a look, and you may get some great ideas! https://www.pinterest.com/em2wl/

Again, welcome! So glad you have found us. Please keep us posted with your progress, and know that we are here to help you along the way.

Feel free to start a journal of your own right here in these forums in the Personal Journals section. It is a great place to track your progress and interact with others going through the same thing!
