Week 11 Metabolism Reset, where should I go from here?
22 years old, 5'10", 195-200lbs, TDEE 2300 according to fitbit, lurker on here for the last 11 weeks!

I had bulimia/anorexia for 5 ish years, where I would net around 900 calories a day with usually an hour of both pilates + cardio 5 times a week. I went from 200-150 lbs in this time.

The last year I started eating more, at about 1200-1400 calories a day, I kept up my workout schedule. I went from 150-180lbs.

I started doing my metabolism reset eating my tdee of about 2300 every day. I've had a fitbit for a while, so the number is pretty well adjusted to my level of steps. I've also been trying my hardest to hit macros C40/F30/P30, and drink a minimum 130oz water a day. I decided to commit to a 12 week reset (to start) because I've treated my body so poorly for so long.

The first month I pretty much stopped doing all exercising because I've been so dependent on it for so long and I wanted to give myself a break.
The second month up to now I started doing training of increasing reps for squats/pushups/leg lifts/ situps.

My weight has increased from 180-195(200) it really changes those five pounds every few days. I feel kinda bloated, and a weird mix between maybe tightened muscles and extra flabby. Because my 12 week reset is originally set to end this saturday, and I think my weight seems to have stabilized, what should I do next? Should I do a small cut, or should I move into a bulk?

I really want to get into body weight training, what would be the best program to really build strength? I've seen max capacity listed on the forums, but it seems more HIIT or cardio for me...

RE: Week 11 Metabolism Reset, where should I go from here?
First of all, welcome! Glad you stopped lurking and decided to post!

So glad you have taken the first steps towards a healthier you, and it sounds like you have made some amazing progress! It is very impressive that you are not stressed about the weight gain and have realized that it is part of the healing process, especially after coming from that bulimia/anorexia background.... Kudos!

Honestly, since you have such a long history of severe restriction, I would expect that your reset may take quite a bit longer. It's great that your weight is stabilizing, but you have come so far and worked so hard to get here, that I certainly would not rush this part of the process. I would suggest that you continue eating at maintenance for a few more months (gasp!) and really give your body the fuel it deserves and time to fully heal and repair your metabolism. Use this time to really work on your strength training and try to build some muscle (which you should be able to do, eating at or slightly over a suppressed TDEE). Take advantage of this time and just accept that the associated weight gain is (unfortunately) just a part of the process.

In case you haven't seen it, let me direct you to an amazing post that Kiki did a couple of years ago about weight gain during reset (following a history of ED) and why it is necessary. I think you will find it enlightening...

RE: Week 11 Metabolism Reset, where should I go from here?
I like to have goals to keep myself motivated, something to provide a finish line for when I have my bad days of questioning my weight gain. I think I might give myself the goal of re-evaluating in 10 weeks and seeing how things are. I have the suspicion/hope that my inches/weight might start going back down just from eating my TDEE of slightly above and body weight training. Idk, I've had more "skinny" feeling days lately. (even though my weight and inches are still up from when I started).

So in potentially 10 weeks I'll start a small cut unless I'm feeling confident with how my body is changing at TDEE or above levels. Does this sound reasonable? I don't want to rush a cut, but I need to have attainable goals/time frames to keep on track. So really 10 weeks is just a place where I will re-evaluate and potentially change regimen.

Sounds like a fantastic plan, and I love that you have chosen 10 weeks, and not something unreasonable like 2.... Love your attitude!

Hi Mary - there is a great weight lifting programme available on here. A lot of us also do Stronglifts 5x5 as it's easy and has a free app. Or you could start off with a bodyweight programme. My favourite is on Nerdfitness: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/...ld-muscle/
