I have too many calories to eat at night!
Week 12 reset

I'm having trouble eating enough healthy foods during the day that fit my macros and get me to enough calories. I eat a lot of eggs, protein shakes, beans, air popped popcorn, leafy greens, oatmeal, and chocolate tongue

If I decide to eat junk food during the day, hitting my TDEE of 2400ish is easy. But eating healthier foods, they're such a big volume that it's difficult. I generally stay up until midnight, and by the time 10pm comes around I still have 1000 calories to eat. I don't want to be eating a lot before bed, usually I'll just have a protein shake but still be 300ish calories below where I need to be.

I know I can add oils to my food during the day to add calories, but that really doesn't make me feel full by night time. I also need food that is affordable on a college budget, preferably high in protein, low carb, lowish fat (I'm good at hitting carb goal, go over on fat almost daily, and never hit my protein) 30/30fat& protein 40carb macros

You will want to look for more calorie dense foods when making your selections. Go for the full fat dairy options and steer clear of anything reduced calorie or "diet". Depending on how you are popping your popcorn, maybe try adding a bit of coconut oil. Also, nut butters are very calorie dense. Try some whole grain bread with almond butter and sliced bananas. Also, nuts pack a big calorie punch. Just a handful of almonds can have a couple hundred calories. I have a Trail Mix that I have made myself and store in an air-tight jar and it consists of almonds, pecans, dried cranberries (or raisins) and some dark chocolate chunks. Doesn't take much of that for the calories to add up! laughing

If you eat a lot of leafy greens and enjoy salads, try adding some sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, pecans and cheese (goat cheese and feta are awesome on salads)...

One other thing, make sure you are trying to get some of those calorie dense foods in early on in the day. If you made yourself a nice big omelet or some scrambled eggs with cheese, spinach, turkey sausage and cooked it with olive oil or coconut oil, that would give you a good head start. Serve it with some whole grain toast and you should be good to go!

I'm eating more healthy, but DON'T cut out foods you enjoy. I still eat pizza, drink beer, etc. It makes this something I can do. If you head to the MFP group and check out some of our diaries, you'll see that we eat normal foods which gives us the calories. I'm mymodernbabylon on there and my diary is open. Last night I had a turkey burger (well, two)!
