how active am I- number of steps a day
I got an rmr test a while back but still trying to work out my tdee. i started wearing a pedometer a week ago and I do between 16500 and 18500 steps daily. Also cycle for 30 mins 5 times a week and weight lifting for 3 1/2 hours per week(60secs rest between sets). Am I moderately active or very active? how many steps do others do per day? im enjoying upping the calories and just want to know roughly what I should aim for-i plan on going really slowly as approach ttde (50calories extra every month whereas going 100extra a fortnight currently !). no weight gain so far which im grateful for as dont think ill cope with more than a few lbs gain!!!!

That is a lot of activity. I think most people try to get in 10,000 steps a day (which is roughly 5 miles), so not only are you well over that but 2 1/2 hours of cycling and 3 1/2 hours of lifting definitely put you well into the very active category. Awesome job upping your intake!

I think I felt that because I have an office job then I couldnt possibly be very active. ill calculate tdee based on this and cautiously work upto it. Thanks anitra. qould never have the courage to try this without this website

The good thing about doing it the way you are doing it is that you will *know* when you have surpassed your TDEE when your weight starts to steadily creep upwards. Making those increases slowly will allow you to see any gains happening and adjust accordingly.
