TDEE Activity Level and Eating Back Calories
Hello!

Question about my TDEE numbers and eating back calories.

I want to make sure I'm not padding my numbers on accident.

Example: I have MFP set to 1700. Fitbit adjusts and adds 200
So I can eat 1900. Lifting session adds 100 (based on HRM).
So I eat 2000. And so on..

Is that correct?

Thanks in advance to anyone who gets this.
The mechanics of math are not my strong point.

RE: TDEE Activity Level and Eating Back Calories
Personally, I don't like the FitBit adjustments. I prefer to un-sync the two (MFP and FitBit) and let them work independently.

What I do is take my FitBit average over the past month and use that as the TDEE figure I work off of. As far as the strength training (which the FitBit does not accurately gauge) I will simply eat more on strength training days (as I am always hungrier) and add on ~250 calories per hour of strength training. So, if I workout for 40 or 45 minutes, I will add on an extra 200ish calories that day. Another way to do it is if you plan to strength train for a total of three hours one week, you can add on 750 calories to your *weekly* intake total and eat it whenever you are hungriest (or divide it out and just add 100 calories to each day of the week...).

Of course, there is no right or wrong way to do it, I just like to keep it simple. I use my FitBit to get my *average* TDEE then have that as my target knowing that I have a little extra from the lifting. I don't like it when all of the sudden my target is changing throughout the day.

If you un-sync your FitBit from MFP, you can just manually go in and set your goal in MFP to whatever it may be at that time. And if math is not your forte, that's the easiest way to do it! laughing

Anitra,

Thank you for this info. It does really help!
I still look at the numbers like they are 3 headed aliens, but they are not so scary big grin

I'm going on the average I have for now. In a few weeks I'll have even more info!

Thx!
Kitty

Yep, just look at the most recent monthly average and work off of that number. And if you un-sync your FitBit from MFP it won't keep making those irritating adjustments. Just set your MFP goals to whatever they happen to be at that time and that's it! (Isn't there an old Ronco TV info-mercial "Just set it and forget it!" laughing )
