Well Happy
I'm male 54 yrs UK Ok this is what happened to me so far.

2nd Jan weigh in for the start of new year
Weight 172.8lbs

Then i gave myself 1200 Calories, walking to work and back 30 minutes each way and running 3 x per week.

Jan 10th
Weight 165.8lbs -7
I lost fat but also lost 4lb of muscle (Garmin index smart Scales)
Losing weight yes, but that's both fat and muscle (-4lb muscle).

Jan 25th Started EM2WL with TDEE -15% with help from member AnitraSoto
(Garmin index smart Scales)
Start Weight was 162.5lbs (-3.3 both Muscle and fat from 1200Calorie allowance).

Jan 31st after my first real week of EM2WL
Weight 159 - 3.5

So 25 Jan to 31st my first week lost 3.5lb and body fat went from 25.4 to 23.9% Muscle stayed just about the same.

So from 1200 Calories to 2527 Calories TDEE (-15%) = 2148 information taken from Garmin Vivoactive daily Calories from 4th Jan for an average.
It is known that Scale isn't always the best way to see progress I'm not expecting to gain muscle as I'm a runner. I used the scale because I was worried that such a calorie increase would cause weight gain. Well it certainly has not. The scale has proved that but more importantly my trousers fit, I'm standing straight with a better posture, my running is getting faster, because my running is fuelled better.
I'm really happy with my first week 1200 Calories and running I struggled, I felt weak, tired, and lethargic. Today 2148 calories I feel great, younger, faster, and fitter. I'm convinced I will progress further. I hope this helps. Lee

RE: Well Happy
The great thing is that you did not spend too long at that 1200 calorie mark. You knew that you could not perform at that level and went in search for an answer. Luckily your metabolism had likely not adapted downwards and is now responding positively to the increase in calories...
