Fresh Start @ 55...need advice

RE: Fresh Start @ 55...need advice
It feels great to be taking a week off of lifting.

Not giving up, just taking a break - the mentality shift is amazing. My body feels really strong right now. I've been really enjoying my carb meals!!! I've been adding carbs to my 11 am meal and then a low carb dinner (meat & vegetables, which I love).

My lunch for the past two day has been four perogies (a favourite and verboten on my low carb days), with fried onions & sausage and a dollop of sour cream. Heaven!

I haven't weighed yet but judging by my clothes, I haven't gained any weight by adding the carbs. If anything, my waist feels smaller and my stomach feels tighter. Bottomline: I haven't felt this good about my body in years!

RE: Fresh Start @ 55...need advice
My house guests have come & gone. We had a wonderful week visiting, catching up & eating. In the past, I would have been concerned about "how to eat less" but this time, I paid attention, ate things I normally wouldn't (lots of sushi & a few baked goods) and enjoyed every minute.

My week off from lifting coincided perfectly with the visit. Now, fully rested, it's time to get back to lifting and my normal eating routine.

This truly is such a sane, liveable program!

The week off was great! I just crushed a workout with record weights, obviously my body loved the break.

This is the longest I've ever followed a weight training program...without the support & knowledge (found here) I abandoned before I saw any true results. Strange muscle that I've noticed developing? My forearms!! Weird & wonderful the way the body works.

It's great to know that I'm committed to the long journey vs. the quick trip towards better fitness. Another observation is this - gentle yoga on off days really helps to rest my muscles between lift days.

RE: Fresh Start @ 55...need advice
I'm just back from jeans shopping. For some reason I was terrified that nothing would fit me. Old fears die hard. I decided to try Old Navy based on Anitra's advice about the curvy fit skinny jean. Well, I'm happy to report that the size 6 classic mid-rise slid on like a glove. I tried the 8's but there was just too much fabric.

I don't even care if it's vanity sizing! I'll take it! I can tell that my tummy is shrinking and that my thighs are firming...how wonderful is that on the eve of my 55th birthday?

Woo Hoo!! You go girl! Those are the ones I wear too... Love that you can wear them with flats or they fit close enough that you can wear them in boots. That style is one of the ones that seems to have enough room in the legs and booty without being huge in the waist. Not too low rise, and not mom jeans. Yay you! And it's the eve of your 55th? Well, early Happy Birthday! party
