RE: Scaryann1's battle with eating and EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)
My Dad was involved in a roll over on Thursday. He was wearing his life alert button on a chain around his neck. It happened to rest under his seatbelt. The force of the roll over and the pressure from the seatbelt forced the button into his chest and broke his sternum. He is doing well, just in a lot of pain. They kept him in the hospital Thursday and Friday nights and he came home Saturday in time to spend an hour or so at our yearly family and friends party.

If you or someone you know wears a life alert or something similar PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure it NEVER rests between your chest and the seatbelt!!!

As much as I enjoy the first weekend in August, I'm glad it's over! Our annual party was Saturday. It was cold this year! Dad was released from the hospital in time to spend about an hour at the party before going home to relax in his recliner. Sunday was my great niece's second birthday party and party clean up. Today is finally rest day! I'm exhausted and in so much pain that I haven't eaten nearly enough in the last three days, but hoping to get back on track now.

I'm so sorry about your dad and glad he's doing well despite the pain. That's an excellent tip re. anything - alerts, jewelry, whatever, under a seat belt/shoulder strap. Thanks for that.

It's been a rough month... We had the transmission replaced in the Jeep. Got it home and the check engine light came on. Reading was a bad crank sensor. Rick got to looking and somehow the wires got cut. We figure it somehow happened when they were changing the transmission. Rick ordered the parts and we sat home while waiting for them to come in. Dad rolled his Subaru. He's okay other than a broken sternum.

Got those parts in and headed out to do our "first of the month grocery shopping." Got an hour from home and the battery light comes on in the Jeep. We pull into Auto Zone and have them attempt to check the battery and alternator. Battery is too dead to do a proper check. New battery from them is around $200 that we don't have. A tow truck is $50 to hook up and $4/mile. We're around 50 miles from home...Call my brother. He just got home from work and hasn't even had supper yet. He says he'll bring a couple of batteries and see how far we can get. While we are waiting for him, I remember I have a cousin that lives near this town, but I don't have her phone number, but she works right across the street! Get the Jeep started and get it across the street to a bigger parking lot. We walk to the store my cousin works at. She just left, in fact Rick watched her pull out of the parking lot, but didn't know it was her at the time.

My brother shows up and we go up to Walmart and get another battery. $150 good thing we'd been saving for new computers. Start up the road to go home and the battery light comes back on. Well, guess it wasn't the battery. My brother thinks he can remember where our cousin lives. We make it there, just. The Jeep dies in the driveway. They pull the alternator and we head home, leaving the Jeep at my cousin's. When we get home Rick orders the new alternator. The next day our pocketbooks another $150+ lighter we head back to my cousins house to put the new alternator in. Hopefully that's the end of this saga!!!

So now I'm exhausted and still trying to get the house cleaned anyway.

Hear's to a much better week!!!

This week was much better! Yesterday was a little rough, but for different reasons. My jaw didn't want to cooperate nor did my knee, but I managed to get through yesterday. Nothing like trying to eat a burger and with every single chew my jaw would go out then back in with a click. Thankfully it doesn't hurt, it's just annoying. I guess it does hurt for some people. Now my knee on the other hand, that hurts! Every other step yesterday it went out and back in!

Hope you are all having a great week! Hoping to get some chainmaille in today!

Good to hear this week was a better one! Sometimes it feels like everything kind of gangs up on us, right? Ugh on the extra expenses. I'm glad your jaw doesn't hurt as bad as you knee, not being able to eat because of pain would be a nightmare!

One thing I have noticed is that even with so many weeks and months of eating so many calories more than what I had gotten used to, it was scary easy to drop back down to my BMR and even lower on some days! As you can see, I finally noticed what I was doing and now I'm back on track again!

We unexpectedly lost our 13 1/2 year old cat yesterday. I watched her being born and I held her as she crossed the rainbow bridge.

Considering taking a week off from all logging again soon as I just realized that I've logged every day for over a year!

I am so sorry for your loss! What a precious cat! Ours is close to 17 years old and I can see that time has passed for him as well.

It never ceases to impress me the fact that you consistently ate more for one year, have your weight the same but lost so many inches! Your diary has valuable information for anyone who still wonders about increasing calories.

As you already know we lost our 13 !/2 year old kitty a week ago Saturday. We ordered her head stone this week. Well, on Sunday after I posted I learned that we also lost my cousin. He was seven years younger than I am. He had ALS. Sad

After a rough start to the week, I decided that I was going to attempt to get my calories as close to my goal calories as I could get them. I somehow manged to do pretty good by the end of the week! Imagine my surprise this morning when I did my measurements and they had gone down again after trying to edge their way back up these last couple of weeks. So this week I am again going to try to get as close to my goal as I can. I won't even allow myself to get upset if I go over a little bit.

Stop by and check out my Facebook page too: DesignsbyScaryAnn I have several of my beaded items and my chainmaille on it.
