Wink Maintenance with Saturday indulgence
Hi everyone! I was intuitively eating but once I started tracking and got fit bit saw I was only hitting 1450 calories a day. I'm 40, 5'1" and have increased up to 2000 slowly. Been on maintaining the 2000 since January. I have the Fitbit charge so I try to eat what I burn for the week averaged out. Usually about 2000 calories. Going on vacation very soon so no cuts here till I get back

Hi everyone! I was intuitively eating but once I started tracking and got fit bit saw I was only hitting 1450 calories a day. I'm 40, 5'1" and have increased up to 2000 slowly. Been on maintaining the 2000 since January. I have the Fitbit charge so I try to eat what I burn for the week averaged out which is about 14,000. So I usually eat about 2000 calories Sunday to Frida . Going on vacation very soon so no cuts here till I get back.

Ok,so My husband and I like to indulge on Saturdays, cocktails, Pizza and or Chinese for lunch and dinner along with pretzels or something like it. I want to start a cut when I get back from vacation ,so do I try to eat a bit less from Sunday through Friday and leave my Saturday alone or do I have to cut a bit from each day?

I clean houses a couple a times a week and lift weights at home or gym 4-5x a week anywhere from 45 mins to an hour. Only Cardio is walking to get step goal in which is 11,000 and on Saturday to try to counter the big jump in calories eaten.

Thanks for reading :} Zoonkie

First of all, great job upping your calories to 2000! That is fantastic!

As far as your intake: basically you are going to want to look at your weekly averages and work off of those figures. Remember, the body does not have a magical time clock that starts over each night at midnight.... A lot of people will eat more on heavy workout days and less on the more sedentary days, because that is simply when they are hungry. As long as it all evens out. it's all good.

That being said, having those weekend "indulgences" can sometimes backfire. Often we will find ourselves restricting so much during the week that we tend to really let go and go overboard on the weekends (especially if alcohol is involved). What starts out as a nice night out can end up basically sabotaging our whole week's efforts. If you are really having to restrict during the week to give yourself enough calories to enjoy the weekend, you will most likely not see the results you are seeking. If your deficit is too steep during the week there is a good chance your body will save those extra "weekend calories" as fat. Certainly everybody likes to enjoy those special occasions, and we don't ever suggest that one not enjoy good times with friends and family ... you just want to make sure they don't end up being free for alls. As long as that's not the case, just try to go by weekly totals and see how you do - you can always adjust as necessary...

Thanks for the reply! I don't restrict during week. I pretty much hit 2000 consistently, but definitely throw caution to the wind on Saturdays. I track all week and don't on Saturday. Probably because I know I'll have to hold myself accountable, lol.

I plan out my day in the mornings,so it's easier for me to know what's coming up. If I don't track it,it doesn't exist! I am however spot on with my macros even when I do go off track. (I go back in MFP and log my crazy day later in the week to see macros) I've been so good hitting the 2000 for the last 6 months that I kinda forgot to move onto eating more on heavy activity days and less on less active ones. That's definitely what I'll work on when back from vacation along with tracking everyday, not just S-F. I want to try a small cut, so i guess I'll have to adjust my indulgences a bit ,so it's inline with the lower calories and I stay on track. I don't have much I want to lose, but it would be nice to fit into my smaller pants again wink

Thanks Anitra!

RE: Maintenance with Saturday indulgence
Yea, I agree that in that case I would just cut back on the indulgences a bit and leave the rest of the week alone..
