temporarily sedentary - how many cals?
Hello,

I had surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. I haven't tracked my cals the last few weeks (not very hungry, not being able to cook, lots of sleeping blushing)... I'm slowly recovering, so I'd figure I would get more strict with the counting etc...
So I used the calculator, and it says I should eat 1500 something calories... (15 % cut, sedentary)
I am doing nothing more than laying in bed or on the couch, so I entered sedentary. But it seems so little? Should I just maintain for the time being?
I am a bit confused, I don't want to gain crazy amounts of weight, it is still 6 weeks until I can start exercising again.

Thank you!

RE: temporarily sedentary - how many cals?
If you truly are that sedentary, then yes you will have to adjust until you recuperate and get back up and moving again. The only thing I would do is to return to maintenance (at this activity level ) and not try to stay on a 15% cut. The body needs those calories to heal, so I would just adjust your intake to whatever your FitBit is giving you for a TDEE and gradually increase as your burns increase (when you become more active). Once you are back exercising for a while, then introduce that cut again...

(and if you keep your own personal status reports in your same original thread, it will make it easier to look back at previous posts for your history :-)

RE: temporarily sedentary - how many cals?
Thank you Anitra! I am going to increase my cals to maintenance, also I'm too hungry on 1500ish calories. I haven't worn my fitbit consistently either, so I am going to start doing that too. I found it to be accurate before, so it will give a better idea of the cals I should be eating.
I will keep updates in my original thread from now on! Thank you!

Sounds like a great plan! Adjust your intake to your new activity level and take out that deficit so you don't starve to death laughing
