Yes Tereza, that is a concern of mine...once my training ramps up, I'll definitely need to eat more! I'll just see how things go from here and adjust accordingly! Already I'm seeing increased hunger after that one night that I train with my trainer...

A triathlon sounds like a lot of fun. Are you planning an ironman length or shorter? When I was 30ish I joined a triathlon team for their swim practise to learn how to swim better, I have done fun runs but never a triathlon. I would love it if you let us know how your practices were going and if you enjoy it and what sort of time commitment it entails. It sounds like a fun thing to do. :-)

Hahaha West...yes, glutton for punishement! As I said, I'm excited but terrified all at the same time! But I've had some time to get used to the idea and I actually like having this (huge) long-term goal. I'm in the process of crafting shorter-term goals as preparation. I'm not even sure that I will be able to run on this foot, but I guess I'll find that out soon enough!

Fiona, it's only a sprint triathlon, so a 500 yard swim, 11 mile bike ride, and a 5k run. The swim is the portion that has me really worried as I'm not a swimmer and I definitely don't have experience with open water swimming! That's something I'll tackle further down the line...most likely a few swim lessons and lots of practice in a pool, then move it into the ocean when the weather gets warmer and race day is closer.

At this point, my goal is just to finish...even if that means walking the 5k. I just don't want a "DNF" (did not finish).
