RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Yes it was 1700, so I bumped it up by 100 to 1800 for this week.

Well my weight always fluctuates a few pounds from day to day and seems to be still doing that from 146lb to 148lb so no change there, currently at 147lb happy

If you continue to make those increases slowly and allow your body to adapt and adjust (upwards) along the way, you should be able to keep the gains to a minimum. Way to go!

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Week 3 tomorrow, so will be upping calories to 1900.

Happy with my progress so far managing to increase my calories swapping things like skimmed milk to whole milk etc..

My weight has been 147lb, 146lb, 148lb, 147lb, 148lb, 147lb and 146lb this week.

Might have to include a lunch time meal at some point as I currently have a Breakfast meal of 800 calories, Dinner meal of 800 calories, and my milk for tea and coffee for the day is 200 calories, thought about upping my milk but dont think adding more sugar will be a good idea, the sugar in the milk is the only sugar in my diet at the moment.

I usually have one day at the weekend where I am with friends/family and we have something like Pizza or Curry etc.. for our evening meal and while I decide not to think about how many calories that might be I don't overeat or go nuts and I don't do dessert and usually have a smaller meal at breakfast which seems to work.

Things seem to be going alright although its early yet, hopefully my updates might help others when my journey comes to fruition.

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Great update! You will find as you eat more and more, any desire to go "overboard" with the eats on the weekends will simply fade with time, allowing you to enjoy meals with friends and family without worrying that it might put you off track. And, yes, as you continue to increase your intake you are most likely going to have to add a third meal ... it's hard to get those calories in two meals without feeling overly stuffed!

Great job taking it slow and steady!

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Week 4 tomorrow, so upping my calories to 2000!

Been another good week, weight still hasnt changed, its been:

146lb, 145lb, 147lb, 148lb, 146lb, 147lb and 146lb.

I have opted for some toast after my workout to meet my calorie goal, its high in protein so ideal I think.

Also saw progress in my pullups increasing by 1.

If my weight stays the same by this time next week I guess I will increase again to 2100?

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Yep! Sounds like you are doing great! Just keep pushing it higher (slowly) until you start to see gains.

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Sounds great! If you remember, the 2000 was just a level I suggested as an interim goal...but since Anitra thought your TDEE would be several hundred calories beyond that and because you are maintaining weight still, best to push it up again. There will come a time (probably before the end of the year the way you're going), where you will have to hold more than a week to stabilize...but until then (as Gollum would say)..."Up, Up, Up"

I'm curious, what kind of toast do you eat that is high in protein?

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Thanks both, your help is much appreciated happy

The bread I have is Hovis Seed Sensations Wholemeal Bread, it has 5.2g of protein and 5.5g of fibre per 44g slice at 109 calories.

Its not a massive difference but every bit of protein helps happy

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Week 5 tomorrow but for some reason I lost weight this week, first time I have been as low as 144lb since I put the weight on:

146lb, 144lb, 145lb, 146lb, 145lb, 145lb and 145lb.

Improved my pullups again by 1.

Even though I lost weight, I'm guessing I should still increase my calories by 100 tomorrow to 2100?

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Absolutely...you're doing great! If you're struggling with ideas, about 16 grams of nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, peanuts) is around 100 calories. Just a little over half an ounce! Sounds like your body is getting stronger with the additional fuel.
