Eating an additional 500 calories a day, strength gains and stable (overall) weight - score! You are doing awesome!

Thankyou both for your help, getting excited for the weeks and months ahead!

Nuts is a good idea, had them in my diet a while ago, they are expensive though so will probably use them as a backup if I run out of things to have in my diet happy

I have gone with Porridge for the moment, too much bread was getting boring and its another cheap option.

I am loving reading about your updates! Way to go! Omg, b ing able to do one more pullup is a great improvement! How about some peanut butter? Less expensive and just as good on your toast!

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Heya! happy

Its been going okay, had a really busy month with lots of people visiting or going on trips and stuff so havnt been on it in terms of recording things and keeping to my normal diet, but I'm all set for the new week ahead.

I have my calories up to 2250 now, I added in peanuts, they were actually much cheaper just buying a large amount of the supermarket version and I also have cheese as snacks throughout the day too, I tried making Peanut and Oat protein bars, which worked but was way too much peanuts for my tastes so scrapped that idea, thankyou for your suggestion of peanut butter Tereza, its a bit too much for me, but small amounts of peanuts I don't mind weirdly enough, having about 50g of them in a little pot throughout the day.

Researched fat and how I could incorporate it into my diet more as its a lot more calorie dense and suits my two meals a day preference, so currently now its 40% fat, 30% protein and 30% carbohydrates and I'm still trying to stick to whole foods and not having sugar or processed foods, I do wonder if the more fat you eat the more chance you will get spots though, we will find out I guess lol.

Starting my workouts again this week, tweaked them a bit so should see better gains too, my diet seems to be working, I'm still at the same weight and looking forward to the coming weeks.

I bought some calipers, they have me at 13.5% body fat, but I think I am more likely 17% body fat but they are supposed to be pretty accurate, but I don't have a six pack showing, more like a cross indent in the mornings, but getting there heh.

I think that's everything! happy

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Sounds like you are doing just great! Congratulations on all the results.

Although my hubbie and I do have peanut butter (twice a week sandwiches for lunch as that's the easiest thing for me to take to college), we rely a lot on raw (sometimes roasted) nuts...walnuts, pecans, almonds, and brazil nuts. Have you ever tried Jet.com? You can get 3 pounds of walnuts for $11, that's $0.23/ounce, 48 ounces....if you're only eating 2 oz a day, would last you almost a month. Almonds are $13 for 3 pounds, pecans about $15.50 for 2 pounds. I mention these three nuts specifically as they are good for lowering cholesterol and can be eaten by themselves or added to other foods (oatmeal, granola, cereal, etc).

I also love mozzarella string cheese, great amount of protein (7 g) for 50 calories...just don't love the sodium so much. I have also found that roasted edamame (soybeans) is a great source of protein and also chia seeds. Don't eat them everyday...well, I guess I add about 10 grams of chia to a lot of my breakfast items, occasionally to protein shakes. They are a nice change.

Understand about the busy month...are you just hanging out at 2250 until things become more normal and then increasing again? I suspect you have not found your TDEE yet.

I'm a little confused about your comment...what does fat have to do with spots? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong kind of spots.

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Yes, I'm going to hang out at 2250, and see how things go.

In regards to spots I mean the ones you get on your face when you eat too much chocolate happy

I'm eating peanuts at the moment, a 1kg bag is £3, so thats roughly £4.50 a month if im eating 50g a day which is about $5.55.

Don't think I have tried mozzarella, chia seeds or soybeans might have to look into that.

Thanks for your advice Hannah happy

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Was just reading another post in this sub forum and realised my own post is probably more like a journal now, should I if possible move this to the journal sub forum or is it okay here?

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
If you feel like starting a journal and just summarizing your journey to date, you can. Makes it easy to refer to, but your choice.

Got the spots now. For some reason I always associated that with the cocoa in chocolate vice the fat.

RE: Need help with activity and upping calories
Heya, switched from eating nuts and cheese and upping my milk consumption to 1 litre a day, overall sugar consumption is about 50g a day, doesnt seem too bad and its natural sugar.

Find it hard to want to eat enough food to get enough calories so trying to drink the remaining calories which is about 650 calories.

Currently looking into working out a way to not have to count calories, but I guess thats the holy grail happy

Weight is about the same, but not paid too much attention to that recently.
