RE: Eat, Play, Write
Thanks, Tereza. That's what I figured. I didn't worry too much since even at the lower activity level last week, I'm just barely over TDEE.

Today I'm up again, but gritting my teeth, and I'm back on track with the exercise. I'm so grateful to everyone who posts on these forums - seeing others' journeys has helped me accept the ups of the ups and downs.

Starting weight Nov. 21 - 144
2016-12-29 148.4 lbs
2016-12-30 148.2 lbs
2016-12-31 148 lbs
2017-01-01 147.4 lbs
2017-01-02 147 lbs
2017-01-03 147.8 lbs
2017-01-04 148 lbs

BMR - 1271
TDEE - 2192
Average past 7 days - 2032

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Eeek! I'm up again this morning and closing fast on 150. I do NOT want to go there again. So I could use a little feedback...

I just checked my #s on MFP. For the past 90 days I've averaged 1800 calories/day, with the # rising since 11/21 from 1800 to (now) 2030/day. I can't go back beyond 90 days on calories, but my weight had held steady 144-146 from June 16 - Nov 21, when I started the reset and to gain a bit, so I suspect my calorie intake was probably around 1800 from June-Nov, and my activity level ranges between Moderate and Stenuous. I was going to do a full reset, but I'm thinking of switching to a 10% cut. Because of the weather, my activity level is a little erratic, but if I average 10% cuts for Moderate & Strenuous, I get 1873. Would I be nuts to back off to 1873 for 4-6 weeks and then recalculate my TDEE and eat there for a couple of weeks (or longer)?

Also, my eventual goal is to be about 130, and the calculator shows my TDEE at that weight would be in the 1800-1900 range, depending on activity. That feels right to me.

Anyway, advice/similar experience would be appreciated. And now I'm off to take a nice long walk before the ice storm hits us!
Thanks!

Sheila, there's nothing wrong in stepping back a little, specially if your activity level is lower now. As long as you don't go below the 10% deficit, you will be fine.

Sheila, just wanted to say it looks like we are in the same place with current weight and goal weight! Well, I'd be happy to be back at 135 again. And I too do not want to see 150! But, gaining some weight is part of the process of finding our true TDEE, for most of us anyway. I don't have any advice on doing a cut, as I am just a newbie too!

Thanks (again), Tereza. I'm going to cut 10% for a bit and see what happens.

Frosty, I watch your posts closely. We'll do this together!

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Good morning! We're buckling down for an ice storm here (southern coast of North Carolina), but I'm hoping to get a walk in before the storm rolls. There's lots of nasty weather out there, so if you're in its way, be safe!

Yesterday I wrote that I couldn't stand the weight gain and thought I'd back off the calories a bit. But I decided to stick to the 2020-2030 I've been doing at least through today (Fri) to make it a whole week. This morning, I'm back down a pound, and my moving average finally dropped (only .2, but it's the right direction!). So I'm going to stay at 2030 for a few more days and see what happens. I'm not usually so wishy washy, and I really appreciate the support here, and the chance to read other people's journeys. Knowing we're not alone is half the battle!

Starting weight 11-21 144
2016-12-25 147.4 lbs
2016-12-26 148.4 lbs
2016-12-27 147.4 lbs
2016-12-28 147.8 lbs
2016-12-29 148.4 lbs
2016-12-30 148.2 lbs
2016-12-31 148 lbs
2017-01-01 147.4 lbs
2017-01-02 147 lbs
2017-01-03 147.2
2017-01-04 148
2017-01-05 148.2
2017-01-06 147.2

BMR - 1271
TDEE - 2192
Calorie average past week - 2030

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Good for you in deciding to stay at the same calorie level! I think it does take our bodies longer than we wish to settle in to the higher calories, and for the metabolism to catch up. It's hard to be patient. And how nice that your weight went down today! I'm right there with you!

Stay safe in the storm!

Yay, that's nice! Great idea to stick with it for a little longer. If you need, here is a link to a metabolism reset troubleshooting http://pin.it/WOssCvt

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Well, I'll be cutting back a bit this week. Last night I stepped on someone's chewy bone (see "someone" below), hitting it hard with the edge of my foot, and this morning it HURTS. So between the weather and my foot, I see no walks/runs in my near future. Plus I'm up a pound this morning.

I averaged 2014 the past week. The calculator shows BMR 1271 and TDEE/Maintenance 1747 at Light and 1970 at Moderate (ave 1858.5). I'm going to try 1860/day until I can get back to my normal routine. I think I can continue my weight training, if I'm careful about my foot. Good excuse to spend the weekend with Lily and a good book! happy

I hope this works - first time I've tried to include an image.
