RE: Eat, Play, Write
Hi all. Last week I got very little exercise due to hazardous air quality from forest-fire smoke. Overall, I've lost about 2 pounds since early July - slowly, slowly, but that's fine. I'm hoping the air will stay clear and I can get back to walking - I love my long walks along the river! Anyway, aside from that, I plan to stay at 1830 this coming week to see what happens. I really think I was estimating too high and that my tdee, at least at my current activity level, is closer to 1900, since I'm very slowly losing at slightly below that. I keep trying to cut a bit lower, but I get hungry and eat. :-) My macros are good (P 25-30%, F 30-35, C 40-45). There does seem to be a time lag in terms of ave calories and weight change - maybe 10-14 days. Anyone else see a pattern like that?

Starting weight in Nov. - ~145
Calorie range 1/10-4/7 = 2011-2308
Average weights 1/10-4/21 = 148.9-156.8
Chill through May & June -- no weigh-ins, ate what I pleased
Date - Sun. weight - ave. calories prev. week
7/2 - 153.6 - 1930
7/9 - 153.6 - 1820
7/16 - 152 - 1780
7/23 - 152.6 - 1803
7/30 - 151.8 - 1853
8/6 - 151.4 - 1745
8/13 - 152 - 1847
8/20 - 150 - 1851
8/27 - 150.8 - 1981
9/3 - 151.8 - 1831
9/10 - 151.4 - 1830

Estimated TDEE -- ~1900-1950

RE: Eat, Play, Write
I meant to eat ~1830, but I've had a hungrier week with much less exercise than normal due to hazardous air quality from forest fire smoke. Hopefully the rain we're expecting the next few days will clear the air and I can resume my walks. I've been backpacking my laptop to coffee shops, sit and write, backpack home, which gets me 40-120 minutes of walking with extra weight onboard. Anyway, that's where I am, and pretty sure I'm close (maybe slightly low) on my tdee estimate. Mostly trying not to obsess!

Hey Sheila,
Looks like you stayed stable, even eating more. probably walking with a heavier load did the trick. Hopefully the air quality will improve soon.

Have you seen about the 5 day Free Crush the Diet Bootcamp that will start next Wednesday on the Fb community? Make sure you join, you will like it: http://www.crushthediet.com

Make sure you join, I don't know when the next one will be (not before next year, for sure). You can watch the videos (they are not so long) at your convenience, even the live part.

RE: Eat, Play, Write
I'm up slightly, and ate more (not planned, but I had a bit of a binge Friday night - hubby out of town, schedule disrupted, I munched on Triscuits (too many!) and licorice all sorts - I haven't done that in 3 years! Don't know what got into me (besides too much salt and sugar!). Anyway, the gain makes sense and also makes me even more sure that my tdee must be about 1850-1900 at my current exercise level. I'm going to try a 10% cut now to ~1700 and see what happens. At least our air has cleared and I can get outside again. I ate properly yesterday and will today and tomorrow and....

RE: Eat, Play, Write
I cut ~15% this week, and am back down a little. I plan to stay at this level for another week or two and then recalculate and eat at TDEE for 3-4 weeks. Oddly, I'm not overly hungry as I'm getting lots of protein (esp. salmon and skipjack tuna), good fats, and fiber. Carbs, too, but I'm trying to keep to ~35-40% for a bit. When I do get hungry, I eat something satisfying, like an ounce of good cheese or a bowl of berries. It isn't so much the weight I want to lose now, but I seem to have regained a bit of belly I had lost, and it's making my clothes tight. I've also started a new yoga class to get back into that habit. We'll see!

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Sheila, I see that the scale is trending down, but are you eating 1580 or that's just a typo? Please tell me it's a typo, because that's probably barely your BMR! By now you know too much to undereat.

Yay on yoga class! I hope you truly enjoy it and keep going. How are the walks going?

Did you see about tomorrow's call? Try to join it, those are usually pretty good. At least you get to see other EM2WLers!

Yes, typo! 1680! So about a 10% cut. My BMR, though, calculates to ~1350.
I'm walking daily - yay! I can't make the call, unfortunately.
