Safe travels!

I'm not being funny but do you like moving house? I find it stressful and, if I can help it, won't move house again.

Ha! West, no, not really, although it's not too bad since we've had practice. We didn't expect to move again so soon, but neither of us are happy here, so back we go to where we started 9 years ago. Once we find a house, I think that's it for a good long while, barring something unforeseen.

RE: Eat, Play, Write
It is good you are doing something about it so quickly after realising you aren't happy. A lot of people let it go far too long in an uncomfortable situation when they are able to do something about it. I think I have been guilty of that. May you find a beautiful spot in the world where you really love living.

I agree completely! And yes, I suspect we've all done that, whether a place we live or a job or a degree program or.... It's so easy to get stuck, and far too many people are ready to discourage us from making necessary changes. My hubby has always said, wherever we've gone, that "if we don't like it, we'll move." Going back to Indiana seems like the right decision for a lot of reasons, not least cost of living. But Fort Wayne is also a lovely city with lots going on without being overwhelming, and it's easy to get from there to Chicago and to the East Coast. Or anywhere, really. :-)

RE: Eat, Play, Write
It looks like I may be talking to myself here, but I hope some of you are still around. I'll see if I can scare anyone up!

It's been 5 weeks since I checked in. We've moved, more or less settled into our short-term (I hope) apt., and we've been house hunting and making the other changes that come with moving. It's been great to see old friends - I have a long list of lunches & coffees waiting for me!

For most of the 5 weeks I just ate at will, and I went up to 151, so not too much damage considering it was 4 weeks of restaurant food, motels, and lots of car time with little other exercise, and occasional crap I haven't eaten in 3 years! I didn't track with much precision, but I guestimate that I averaged 1600-2000 calories a day for about 4 weeks. I think of it as a mini-reset. I've settled into a better routine the past week and dropped back to 149, and today I started a 10% cut from my estimated TDEE of 1500. I'm aiming for 1300-1400 for the next 2 weeks. Then I'll go back to TDEE for 2 weeks.

I do expect to start getting more exercise now that we've landed and the weather seems to be improving, so I'll recalculate as appropriate. The apts. have a workout room, so I've started using weights again.

That's it. Is anyone else here, or has this become my "dear diary"? Undecided

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Hi Sheila, good to hear your travels were safe and you are back among friends with coffee and lunch catchup dates with everyone. That will be fun.

And that is a pretty good outcome weight wise too. It isn't too much to go up a couple of pounds and they may come off quickly seeing as it went on quickly.

I am disappointed about the lack of activity but then again I don't post very often myself now either.

Enjoy being back and all the best with finding a really lovely more permanent place.

Thanks, Fiona! Yes, I think the weight is partly water - all that restaurant sodium - so I think it will come off fairly quickly. I hope you're doing well!

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Great to hear you have settled! Yay for many plans with friends!

I loved the “mini-reset” part, but not so much the cutting from 1500. Definitely low, even without workouts, definitely seems way too close to BMR.

RE: Eat, Play, Write
Yes, I am doing well. I am sort of happy where I am hanging around weight wise at the moment. I cut to an average of 65.5kgs. Measurements 38.5inch (widest part of the hips) and 27.5inch waist. I would still like to cut to around 64kg and 38inch hips and 27inch waist but am happy to settle where I am at the moment until my body is ready for another cut.
