Can we talk about cardio?
I've been talking with Lucia for a while now. My cardio is basically 2 HIIT sessions a week, then 1-2 moderate, 20-min thungs (anything from a swim, to a walk, to a vid).

I recall kiki's vid about cardio as a trump card in the end game of fat loss.

I am currently in cut, and wondering about cardio in genral. On the bodybuilding.com forums, generally it's regarded as unnecessary for fat loss. And it seems some folks even think it can INHIBIT fat loss.

As someone who's seen an exceptionally slow loss in her cut, I'm curious if we can talk about this more. I lift 3x per week. Has anyone tried a successful cut withOUT cardio, liftimg only? Has it been more successful than cutting with lifting and cardio? (kiki, you have any words? happy

I enjoy the cardio, but could be ok without it. Im more concerned in its impact--either way--on fat loss. Note I am not a cardio bunny happy

Well...as you noted about my "trump card" statement, that's exactly how I see it. Meaning - I only pull it if NOTHING else is working.

You can def cut successfully w/o it, but then it becomes mainly a food issue, which has to be on point.

I basically use a combo of both. I cut cals first, and go as far as I can by simply reducing food. Then IF I need to go further, I add a cardio day in (because I already do minimal cardio, my body typically responds rather quickly to it)

I made it through my entire last cut on only 1-2 days of cardio. Then during maintenance, I added a bunch trying to boost my endurance for the Cathe Road Trip - I was dropping weight like crazy (not even trying).

But right after the RT I went back to my normal 1-2 days of cardio and it all came back. So, to me, cardio is a lot like lowering cals: it's SO easy for people to become addicted to its original results, abuse it, & make their body adapt to it so that it doesn't "work" like it used to.

FYI- if I hit a true plateau, & have to choose between lowering cals or adding cardio...I'll add cardio.

I love food big grin

So it's up to the person. Use it, but don't abuse it, because it won't "work" forever.

If you love it, have a blast. If you don't. There's ways around it.. wink

My food is not on point. Living in a country where I guess my best when we eat out makes it gray. What i'm hearing is because of that, I need the cardio to help offset it.

It's interesting you cut food first/reduce food first.

I feel like there is a sweet spot I've just not figured out yet :/

By cut cals, I mean 10-15%, not drastic. My cut is never usually more than a 300cal deficit. Typically start w/150-200 & adjust from there wink

My last cut was not only 1-2 cardio sessions, but @1900 cals to boot happy
